Hindi Diwas

September 19, 2024

On September 19, 2024, the pupils of classes 6 through 9 at St. Joseph's School arranged a special assembly to commemorate Hindi Diwas. Every year on September 14, India celebrates Hindi Diwas, a day commemorating the official language of India's adoption of Hindi. The Hindi vow signalled the start of the festivities. The purpose of Hindi Diwas was to draw attention to how crucial it is to advance the language and culture.
In her motivational address, Class 10 student Risha Gupta urged pupils to embrace their linguistic heritage and discussed the importance of Hindi in the modern world. A skit called "Importance of Time" that emphasised the need of timeliness and time management was shown after her speech.
Our chief guest, Ms Neha, a Hindi lecturer from St Joseph's Indian Composite PU College, was the life of the celebration. She said in her message: "Languages ought to be given the same priority in our education as other topics. We should put in the same time and effort into studying languages as we do into mastering science or mathematics. Language proficiency is the result of constant practice and involvement. Through reading, writing, and speaking, we may fully engage with language studies and realise the value and enrichment it brings to our lives. The belief that language learning is essential for a well-rounded education is reinforced by the fact that embracing languages not only improves our communication abilities but also expands our understanding of various cultures and perspectives.
Fr. Rohan D'Almeida, our principal, also offered his wisdom, saying, "We have to appreciate all languages. When we put our mother tongue first, we become more proficient. Language plays a major role in imparting moral ideals to us and aids in our understanding of the emotions and personalities of others." The students found great resonance in his statements, which inspired them to value linguistic diversity.
As a part of the festivities, on September 9, 2024, Hindi Prathibha Pratiyogita was acknowledged, and the winners' accomplishments and talent in the Hindi language were celebrated with prizes throughout the ceremony.
The ceremony concluded with the national anthem, inspiring and motivating the participants to value and advance the Hindi language in their everyday lives.
