St. Ignatius of Loyola Feast Day Celebration

On July 30th, 2024, a special assembly themed "Love Should Be Demonstrated Through Deeds, Not Just Words" was held to celebrate the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The event opened with a prayer that highlighted key virtues such as forgiveness, solidarity, gratitude, humility, courage, and sincerity. This was followed by a beautifully choreographed prayer dance performed by the 7th-grade students.
Rev. Fr. Arun Kumar, SJ, the esteemed chief guest - a Jesuit priest , Socius to the Provincial of Karnataka, was warmly welcomed. He has significant experience working at Prerana and the Papal Seminary in Pune.
One of the event's main attractions was a skit by the 9th-grade students, which underscored the importance of aiding those in need and appreciating those who care for us. The UKG students delighted the audience by dressing up to represent various stages in the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola. An 8th-grade student recited a moving poem that celebrated both the feast and the school's decennial year.
Rev. Fr. Arun Kumar, SJ, then engaged the students with an action song, followed by an inspiring address reinforcing messages of love, gratitude, focus, hard work, and spiritual exercises.
Principal Rev. Fr. Rohan D'Almeida delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the virtues of St. Ignatius, including bravery, courage, loyalty, and a deep commitment to helping the poor. He urged everyone to deepen their spiritual understanding and practice.
The school choir and Kannada teachers added a musical touch to the celebration with special performances. This was followed by distribution of prizes for various competitions, including the Inigo Cup sports competitions.
One of the parents, Ms. Sunitha Paul addressed the gathering, encouraging students to develop valuable social skills and adopt a never-give-up attitude, emphasizing the endless nature of learning. Ms. Jennifer Andrews shared a story that highlighted the values of courage, determination, passion, and the importance of actions over words which resonated with the theme of the day. A student representative Akil Fernandes gave a brief but impactful speech that reminded everyone that small gestures can have a profound impact.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by an 8th-grade student, marking the end of a memorable and enriching celebration.
