St Joseph's School Launches NCC Wing Under 40 KAR Battalion

St Joseph's School proudly inaugurated its National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit under the 40 KAR Battalion on Monday, 21st July 2025, at the SJIPS auditorium. The event marked a significant milestone in the school's journey towards instilling discipline, leadership, and patriotism among its students. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Air Commodore S.B. Arun Kumar, VSM, Deputy Director General, NCC Karnataka & Goa Directorate. He was welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the cadets. Distinguished guests included Fr Dr. Victor Lobo SJ, Vice Chancellor of St Joseph's University, NCC officers, ANOs, and cadets from various institutions. The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Cadet Nandita Sharma from SJU, followed by the symbolic lighting of the lamp and a graceful prayer dance by the students. Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, Principal of St Joseph's School, addressed the gathering, expressing his gratitude to the university cadets and Fr Dr. Victor Lobo SJ for their support in launching the NCC wing. Patriotic performances by the students added colour to the event, leading to the symbolic handover of the 40 KAR Battalion NCC banner by the DDG to the school Principal - marking the official raising of the NCC unit. In his address, Air Commodore Arun Kumar commended the initiative, highlighting the role of NCC in fostering unity, discipline, leadership, and a spirit of service among the youth. "NCC is not just an activity - it's a way of life," he said, urging cadets to make their school and nation proud. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Martin Joseph, appreciating all who contributed to the success of the event. The school looks forward to building a vibrant and proactive NCC unit under the 40 KAR Battalion.
